Creating Opportunities & Resources Against the Trafficking of Humans (CORATH) is a community program for youth, aged 12 to 24, who have been or are at risk of being trafficked, notably through sexual exploitation.
This program is the result of a collaborative effort between leading community organizations that include the Roberts/Smart Centre, the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa, the Elizabeth Fry Society of Ottawa, and YouTurn.
Funded by the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, CORATH provides 24/7/365 assistance with mental health services, shelter, security, individualized education, system navigation, and survivor mentorship.
In Canada, Ottawa has the highest rate of human trafficking outside of Toronto. It is estimated that at least half of the youth that come to the Roberts/Smart Centre have been exploited or are at-risk of exploitation.
